The bladder is a very important and necessary organ in the human body. We would not be able to survive without a functioning bladder. The bladder is the vessel that collect and stores the waste that is filtered from the blood and lymph system by the kidneys. The Urethra is the tube that carries the urine, waste, from the bladder to the outside of the body.
The type of bladder cancer depends on what cells are affected in the bladder.
Two of the leading causes of bladder cancer are:
1. Exposure to chemicals which are usually found in certain factories. For example, a factory that uses a lot of solvents in the production of a product.
2. Tobacco smoking.
The risk of bladder cancer is much higher in smokers than in non-smokers. To bad that more smokers do not heed this fact and stop smoking.
Bladder cancer like many other types of cancer occur mostly in older people. That is over the age of 50. This is not to say that younger people are not susceptible to cancer, they are. But cancers that are mainly caused by exposure to a carcinogens take time to develop from the exposure. For example, smoking.
Symptoms of bladder cancer
Most of the symptoms of bladder cancer are associated with urination.
1. Frequency of urination
2. Blood in the urine on urination
3. Pain in the lower abdominal region
4. And many others
However, none of these symptoms alone indicate bladder cancer. Symptoms as above indicate that further investigation is required to rule out bladder cancer and other diseases that have the same symptoms.
